Session Description

Atopic dermatitis extends well beyond the skin, with a broad spectrum of atopic and non-atopic comorbidities that can significantly affect patient health and quality of life. This session will examine evolving evidence surrounding the atopic march; cardiovascular, metabolic, psychiatric, and mental health associations; the role of Staphylococcus aureus and the microbiome; and the clinical overlap between atopic dermatitis and cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. Participants will gain practical insights into recognizing these complex associations and considering how treatment decisions may influence comorbidity risk and overall patient outcomes.

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this symposium, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify at least three atopic and non-atopic comorbidities associated with atopic dermatitis.
  2. Describe two ways that atopic dermatitis treatment may influence comorbidity risk and patient outcomes.
  3. Apply key clinical findings to differentiate common atopic dermatitis comorbidities from conditions requiring further evaluation.
