LEARNING OBJECTIVES

This educational session aims to explore the shared immunological and genetic mechanisms that underlie these two autoimmune conditions. The session will delve into these converging pathways so that dermatologists and allergists alike gain insights into novel therapeutic strategies that target shared molecular mechanisms, offering potential for more personalized treatment approaches for patients with comorbid AD and AA.

At the conclusion of this symposium, participants will be able to:
1. Analyze and compare the pathogenic mechanisms of Alopecia Areata (AA) and Atopic Dermatitis (AD), identifying both shared and distinct immunological pathways to improve diagnostic and treatment strategies for patients with either or both conditions.
2. Evaluate the epidemiological data linking Alopecia Areata to atopic comorbidities, with an emphasis on identifying key patient populations at increased risk for developing AD alongside AA.
3. Assess emerging treatment developments for both Atopic Dermatitis and Alopecia Areata, with a focus on understanding how new therapies for AD may influence the management of AA in both adult and pediatric populations.
